Psalm chapter 1 verses 1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
One of the keywords in the book of Psalms is the word “blessed” It appears 147 times in the book of Psalms within the King James Version Bible.
The word “Blessed” serves as a pronouncement upon a man, but not any old ordinary man, here in verse 1 it talks about a man that is blessed, happy, and a righteous man.
The happy righteous man should avoid bad and evil influences, deeds, attitudes and sin to the best of his ability.
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 22 to
“22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
Psalm chapter 34 verse 14
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
The righteous man delights in Gods word, therefore God causes him to prosper.
We as Christian’s should always be in the word of God. We should delight to study it, read it, memorize it , and apply it to our lives.
One of my favorite verses talks about studying the word in
2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 15
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
We as Christian’s should also share God’s Word with others and allow it to guide their actions, thoughts, and prayers. Even with the lost people. Sharing the word with them will change their lives. The Bible is powerful.
Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Verse 3 describes a man who flourishes and prospers by consistently engaging and thriving with and being influenced by God’s Word. He is like a well-nourished solid and healthy tree, flourishing and bearing fruit because of the continuous provision of God’s grace and guidance. Gods grace is sufficient. This mans life is characterized by Gods grace, and ultimately, God’s blessing in all he does.
