I Corinthians 15:1-4

1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 1-4 KJV

15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

This passage of scripture is the Gospel of Jesus Christ by which we are saved. The Gospel means “Good news” and it certainly is Good news to know that Jesus made a way for us to be justified in the eyes of the father. Through his death, burial and resurrection we have hope.

Notice verse 1 says “ I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;”

Once this gospel is “preached unto you” you need to (hear it) receive it, believe it (have faith in it) (17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.) (Romans 10:17) and once you truly believe it with your heart (you must stand in it)!!!

Notice verse 2 says (By which also ye are saved,) So you are saved by this Gospel!!!!

You aren’t saved by Baptism, works, a fish fry, speaking in tongues, or even going to a priest and confessing your sins. You’re saved by the gospel and the blood of the crucified one. That’s the only way to be truly saved.

Notice verse 2 also says “if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.”

Apostle Paul is saying if you hold fast to and remember the core message of the glorious gospel of Christ. We should always remember the gospel. This is where our salvation comes into play. I believe that this is by far the most important thing to mankind. “How that Christ died for our sins”

Now what Apostle Paul means by “unless ye have believed in vain” is that your faith, though received, could become pointless or ineffective if you don’t continue to believe the correct gospel message. In the context of 1 Corinthians 15, Paul is warning against a faith that denies the literal, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ, which would make the entire gospel message, and therefore your belief in it, ultimately worthless and unable to bring salvation. We serve a risen savior.

Verse 3 says “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”

I make a big deal out of the word “how” in verse 3. How did Christ die for our sins?

He shed his BLOOD.

The Bible says in Hebrews 9 verse 22

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Ephesians chapter 1 verse 7 KJV
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

And one of my favorite verses in the entire Bible

Romans chapter 3 verse 25

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Praise GOD FOR THE BLOOD 🩸

Verse 4 says “And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

Jesus Christ’s physical burial and resurrection were real life events, not symbolic, not a fairy tale, and that they occurred exactly as the Old Testament scriptures prophesied, serving as evidence of His divine authority and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.

By the way in conclusion, it’s not about his “death” there are pastors telling people that it’s not about the “blood” it’s about his death. That is a false statement. We sing there is POWER IN THE BLOOD, not in his death. If it was just about his death then we’d be praising a dead savior, BUT my Lord and savior is alive and well. And he IS RISEN, UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE.

Amen
