1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me
The chapter here in Isaiah chapter 6 verse 1 first starts off with the death of King Uzziah who reigned for 52 years according to (2 Chronicles chapter 26 verse 3.) The Bible also makes it clear that Uzziah became king at the age of 16.
The bible says that he started off as a good king but he ends up getting very prideful and he gets turned into a leper.
King Uzziah did that which was right in the sight of the Lord. We should always want to seek God and obey his words and submit to his will for our lives.
It really doesn’t matter on how you start as much as you finish. Let me explain that statement a little more.
It’s always great to start well but we should always strive to finish even better. That’s the goal!
In this lifetime you may be known as a righteous person, or the best Christian at your job or in your family, But it doesn’t matter so much on how you start.
I’m glad you got born again and you started reading your Bible and praying to a Holy God, and coming to every church service, witnessing to the lost and sharing the gospel.
Even though that’s all tremendous things as a Christian to do,
We should strive to endure to the end, fight a good fight, and finish our course as the Apostle Paul said.
Ecclesiastes chapter 7 verse 8
8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
I want to Focus on verse 3. There is a saying that I would like to expound on through this whole blog post.
“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Friends we serve a Holy God.
He’s so holy that he shed his blood for the remission of sins
He’s so holy that he laid his life down for a sinner like you and me
He’s so holy that he spoke this whole earth into existence
He’s so holy that he got into a fire with 3 boys and he got them out without the smell of smoke
He’s so holy that he makes the blind to see and the lame to walk.
He’s so holy that He delivered Daniel out of the lions den
The bible says that he’s so Holy that he came here on this sin cursed earth over 2,000 years ago, lived 33 perfect years of no sin and was persecuted, beaten and mocked and he laid his life down for us to be justified in the eyes of the father.
But I’m glad that’s not the end of the story because up from the grave he arose. We serve a risen savior , Calvary is not the end of it all, he went to Joseph’s borrowed tomb and he only stayed there for 3 days and 3 nights, Satan couldn’t hold him, nor the devils of hell but Jesus the HOLY, HOLY, HOLY ONE, GOT UP FROM THE GRAVE AND HE AROSE FOR ME AND YOU.
If that isn’t Holy then I’m not so sure what Holy is.
God is so Holy that we have breath in our bodies, food in the table, a bed to sleep in, clothes on our back, shoes on our feet, a nice and reliable car to drive in, a job to labor and take care of our families and ultimately bring the first 10% back to God.
The Holiness of God is not to be conceived of as one attribute among others; it is rather a general term representing the conception of his ultimate perfection and total glory. It is his infinite moral perfection crowning his infinite intelligence and power.
Holiness is God’s total glory crowned. God is absolutely holy with an infinite, incomprehensible fullness of purity that is incapable of being other than it is. (A.A Hodge)
God is even good to the lost person who rejects and despises him daily. The lost person wakes up and hears the birds singing, they see the sun rise, they breathe fresh air and they have the same opportunities as the saved people to come to Jesus.
That’s just Gods mercy and Holy nature to see everyone saved. It’s not Gods will that any should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.
But in conclusion, if it wasn’t for a Holy God, we wouldn’t have this book of Isaiah or the bible for that matter. But I’m glad we have the God breathed, inspired and preserved infallible word of God which is the King James 1611 perfect word of God.
